Betty Update

The heart surgery for my grandma, Betty McNutt, went well. They replaced her heart valve with a mechanical one. I took the kids up to see her tonight, but we didn't get to see her. We showed up during the hour and half they don't allow visitors at night and they didn't allow children under 12. Given a choice between seeing her and the surgery going well, I'll take the surgery going well. Her health is still a concern, but a big praise for her being able to have the surgery and it being successful.

I had a great time in Philly. I spent six years of my childhood there but I haven't been back since college. Some things like how good soft pretzels and cheese steaks taste haven't changed. Other things were different like the rebuilt elementary school I went to. The snow was absolutely beautiful-- I miss it already. The best thing was the people I got to see: friends and family-- I appreciate people opening up their homes for me to stay in.

Hey Jake,

Glad you had a great time in PA - but if you want the snow, you have to also accept the 15 degrees - which seems to be the high this week!

I would recommend not taking the girls to see mom until at least the end of the weekend. I know that all would love to show that they care, and mom truly knows that, but this is a time for the doctors and nurses to do their work and she needs all the rest she can receive during this critical time. Plus, right out of surgery may not be the best appearance that the girls should see - i'm sure they would feel better if they saw her when she didn't have the ivs and tubes still in her.

My 2 cents.

Love, aunt janette

Our friends who visit your blog are such strong Christians and always put me at ease with their words and wisdom. Thank you for your leadership. This site has evolved to much more than we even know. Love you and all your friends!! And again, Thank you all for praying for my Mom! Please continue. I am certain the readers of this site have a one way direct private line to heaven!!

Love you, Jake. Don't go away for a long, long time. We miss and need you. Meemaw smiled ear to ear when she heard you come to see her.

Love you,
Aunt Sandy

Many prayers still for you and the girls, and especially for your Aunt Betty. She sounds like a strong woman of faith. Hope that her recovery goes well.

Glad you had a great time in Philly, but I'm sorry you guys were unable to make your WARM Place appointment. Thankfully, you are surrounded by many friends and family who love you and will get you through to March. I know it seems a long time away, but we're all here for you.

Thank you for your continued inspiring attitude throughout all of this.

In Him and around the corner (and wishing for some of that Philly snow),

Al
