Worn Out

I tried to make rice again with the Sweet and Sour Chicken I made this time, but there was a lot of water left and it came out soggy. The chicken part tasted really good though. If making rice is going to be like watering plants I might as well give up now as I've killed every plant I've ever gotten by over/under-watering it. I knew I would have a busy week going into it but I didn't anticipate how much it was going to wear me out. Tomorrow we are eating out. It's not even ten yet but I am super sleepy, so I'm going to bed. Right now.

Hey Jake - if you are using white rice our trick is 2:1 - 1 1/2 cups water, bring to boil, add 3/4 cups rice turn to med low covered and let set for 25 minutes.

For Jessica's birthday we sent a PF Changs gift card - I know that she didn't get a chance to use it ): but if you haven't used it, and you can locate it - enjoy a nice dinner, you've earned it.

Love, Janette

For whatever it's worth, if you ever need gardening/plant assistance, our neighbor across the street from us not only has a green thumb, his whole right arm is green! He's helped us out on many occasions. Plus, my wife is very good with plants and gardens. Me? I mow the lawn and try not to kill any of Cyndy's plants with the weed-whacker. I'm in the same boat as you, brother: the folks at Mike's Garden Center groan when they see me coming!

Written more in hopes of putting a smile on your face than anything else. Can I cook a meal for you guys one night (or many nights; is there a schedule? Can any of y'all e-mail me at acrearick@hotmail.com and let me know if there is such a schedule?) Please let me know what would be a good night, just e-mail/call/post on my blog and let me know.

In Him and around the corner (and not very good with rice either, come to think of it),

Al

Get a rice cooker/steamer. Perfect rice every time, and you can use it to steam vegetables too! Trust me, it's totally worth it. I never made perfect rice until we got one.

I agree with Carla. Before I got a rice cooker my rice was always soupy, but the rice cooker makes perfect rice every time. It is definately worth the extra space it occupies.

I've been making rice for 20 years & STILL, I never know how it's going to turn out. Soggy or Crunchy!
So I finally swallowed my pride & bought a Sanyo rice cooker. Now it's always Fluffy!
Also, do you have a crockpot? You could put your meal together the night before & then plug it in before you leave in the morning. There are all sorts of yummy meals you can do in a crockpot. Crockpot recipe books are available & you can also find recipes online.
You'll be a Master Chef in no time!

We use rice in a bag or for quick nights try the Uncle Ben rice that is in a little bag. All you do is tear it open , microwave it for 90 sec, and it's done. They are by all the rice. I hope this helps.

Use Success rice. You just plop it in a pot of bowling water and wait. Drain and serve. Too easy and always good!!!!
