No MRI or radiation

Jess is not going to have an MRI after all. The docs felt like they already had good information from the CT scan, and they didn't want Jess to to feel pain from getting the scan done (transferring, lying still on her back, etc.) She is also not going to have radiation done on her back. The pain relief she might have felt from radiation didn't out way the pain she would have felt from transferring and lying flat on her back.

On the plus side today Jess was much more "with it" and she was in less pain. The main reason for this is that her calcium levels in her blood are down.

Please know that Mark and the girls and I are constantly lifting you up in our prayers. We don't want to bug you with questions of "what can we do" but certainly want you to know you can call on us at anytime. I'm studying Kay Arthur's 'Lord, Where Are You When Bad Things Happen' in my ladies Bible study. One thing that I've learned is that I'm not the only one asking God this question!! There are lots of guys in the Bible asking the same thing!!! Habakkuk, Job, and Asaph (in Psalm 73) are a few that we've studied. And they all come to a place of peace when they confess God's sovereignty. I am praying for your peace - as well as my own! We love you and we just cannot stand to read about Jessa's pain!!!! May the God of all comfort wrap His arms around Jess and her beloved family.

I was working on my Beth Moore Bible study after I read your post yesterday and her Today's Treasure just spoke to me:
Peace be with you;
my peace I give you.
I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let you hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
John 14:27

We are praying for a peaceful and painfree day.

Jake --- thank you so much for the update on Jess. We are so thankful that Bob is there this weekend to lend support. We wish we could all be there with you. The best news is Jess is a little more comfortable.
We keep you in our prayers and send our love,

Thoughts tumble and jumble ... and we are forced to focus on the few things we KNOW amidst all the unknowns and all we don't understand.

I KNOW God is ABLE. I know God parted the Red Sea and I know He raised Lazarus from the dead.
I also KNOW He will do as He pleases and His thoughts are higher than mine as are His ways.
I KNOW He is faithul ... even when I don't understand.

Today I felt impressed to remind you of these verses ...

2 Tim 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. 8 And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing.

Jake and Jess ... you continue to give your all as a sweet smelling offering to the Lord along this painful journey. Rest in the fact that you have fought well as He has given you strength and consider the scriptures below ...

2 Chronicles 20:1 After this, the armies of the Moabites, Ammonites, and some of the Meunites[a] declared war on Jehoshaphat. 3 Jehoshaphat was terrified by this news and begged the Lord for guidance. He also ordered everyone in Judah to begin fasting. 4 So people from all the towns of Judah came to Jerusalem to seek the Lord’s help.13 As all the men of Judah stood before the Lord with their little ones, wives, and children, 14 the Spirit of the Lord came upon one of the men standing there. 15 He said, “Listen, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Listen, King Jehoshaphat! This is what the Lord says: Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.

I pray you can rest in the Shadow of His wings ... the cleft of THE ROCK ... allow Him to hold you and comfort you as a nursing mother comforts her child ... Be still, know HE is God, and watch His victory in your lives and the lives of your family and friends.

I love you with a love that comes only from being bound by prayer ... a deeper bond than I could explain.

You are on my mind and in my heart... always,

Wendy Smith

I was given the link to your blogspot from a friend back in April and have faithfully prayed for you, your family and friends since then. I am deeply moved by your ability to 'keep the faith' despite the difficulty of this season in your life.

Your blog giving a list of the blessings of the week encourages me and has become a constant reminder to 'set my thoughts upon things above'.

You both are wonderful examples of true Christianity and I am praying tonight that the sustaining power of God keep you and yours.

A sister in Christ

"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures,
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul.
He guides me in straight paths for His Name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil
for Thou art with me.
Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies.
Thou anointest my head with oil,
My cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
And I shall dwell in the House of the Lord forever."
Psalm 23

One of Gala Hyden's favorite sayings (she kept it on her bathroom mirror) was:
Do not be afraid of tomorrow; God is already there.

I love you, Jess, and I'm so proud of you.
